Volunteers sought for river, trails cleanup

LOS PADRES Los Padres Forest Association is seeking volunteers to help repair trails, remove noxious weeds and clean waterways in the Santa Barbara Ranger District.

The national forest, in partnership with the Los Padres Forest Association and the Take Pride in America program, will conduct the work on Saturday as part of a regional event to celebrate volunteerism on public lands.

Volunteers will help with river cleanup and invasive species control in the Santa Ynez River, concentrating on the Falls, Sandstone, and Live Oak day-use areas.

Fifty volunteers are needed to assist members of the South Coast Karate Club and Tri-Counties Boot Camp with the work Adults and children are welcome. Volunteers should bring daypacks, sunglasses, hats, and tennis or water shoes as all will work in the water. The Forest Service will provide tools, instructions, refreshments and a barbecue lunch.
