Portion of Santa Barbara Ranger District ClosedUSFS July 5, 2008Due to Fire Emergency Starting today, July 5, all national forest lands south of Hwy 154 and East Camino Cielo between Gibraltar Road and Refugio Road are closed to public entry. The area will remain closed until the Gap Fire is suppressed. The closure prohibits all public entry to national forest lands, trails, roads and recreation sites. The closure does not apply to private land. The closure does not affect Highway 154, East Camino Cielo Road, Gibraltar Road or Refugio Road. Information also is available by calling the Los Padres National Forest headquarters at (805) 968-6640 or Los Prietos Ranger Station at (805) 967-3481 or the Fire Information Center at (805) 961-5770 ORDER NO. 08-07-5100-6 EMERGENCY CLOSURE ORDER LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to protect public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Los Padres National Forest. This order is effective from July 5, 2008, until the Gap Fire is fully controlled. 1. Going into or being upon National Forest System lands within the Gap Fire Closure Area. The Gap Fire Closure Area begins where State Highway 154 intersects with the Los Padres National Forest boundary near Santa Barbara, then west along the Los Padres National Forest boundary to its intersection with Refugio Road (Forest Road No. 5N12), then north along the east side of Refugio Road to its intersection with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then east along the Los Padres National Forest boundary to its intersection with State Highway 154, then south along the west side of State Highway 154 to its intersection with East Camino Cielo Road (Forest Road No. 5N12), then east along the south side of East Camino Cielo Road to its intersection with Gibraltar Road (Forest Road No. 5N40), then south along the west side of Gibraltar Road to its intersection with the Los Padres National Forest boundary, then west along the Los Padres National Forest boundary to the point of beginning, as shown on the attached Gap Fire Closure Area Map. 36 CFR 261.52(e). 1. Being on any National Forest System road within the Gap Fire Closure Area. 36 CFR 261.54(e). 3. Being on any National Forest System trail within the Gap Fire Closure Area. 36 CFR 261.55(a). Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this order: ·1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the otherwise prohibited act or omission. ·2. Any Federal, State, or local officer, or member of an organized rescue or firefighting force in the performance of an official duty. ·3. Owners or lessees of private land within the Gap Fire Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their land. ·4. Persons who reside on private land within the Gap Fire Closure Area are exempt from the prohibitions listed above to the extent necessary to gain access to their residences. These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions in 36 CFR Part 261, Subpart A.
